Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Essay
Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) - Essay Example The usages of these social media sites have proved to be both fruitful and dangerous. Adolescents and children have been engaging on social media platforms in a frequent manner, which have shown enhanced communication, technical skills as well as social connection. Popular social media sites such as, MySpace and Facebook, provide multiple opportunities for their users to connect with classmates, friends and other groups with similar interest, on a daily basis. A recent poll has revealed that almost 22 percent of teenagers use their favourite media sites almost 10 times daily. Nearly 50 percent of the teenagers use their mobiles for social media purposes and the number is continuously increasing (Schurgin & Clarke-Pearson, 2011). Therefore, it can be said that a significant part of the current generationââ¬â¢s emotional and social development is influenced by these social media websites (Roper & Shah, 2007). Various downsides have been observed because of large influence of these media sites. Limited self-regulation and peer pressure among adolescents and children have been posing some risk while these users are experimenting and navigating with multiple social media sites (Thomson, MacInnis & Park, 2005). Research has indicated that online expressions result in negative offline behaviours, including clique-forming, bullying as well as sexual experimentation, subsequently leading to privacy issues and cyber bullying. Other issues influencing children related to high usage of social media are sleep deprivation and internet addiction (Karahanna, Agarwal & Angst, 2006). A new phenomenon has been proposed by researchers, which is known as ââ¬ËFacebook Depression.ââ¬â¢ It is a condition seen to develop in teens and preteens who are spending immense amount of time on numerous social media sites such as, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace and then developing classic depression symptoms. In an adolescentââ¬â¢s life, contact and acceptance by peers and friends is

Week #2 Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Week #2 - Article Example This shows that independence is really an asset when used well. Another thing I have learnt is that if you believe in a value a cause you have to stand up for it, invest your time and money in it, and be smart about it. Without effort (which is basically time and money) a cause will remain just an idea that is worthless unless it is followed up. Still on page 126, we are told how since Lancie Clippinger did not invest in expensive specialized equipment, he was able to modify his ways to suit his wishes and circumstances. This might appear coincidental, but it is clear from the book that Clippinger is really just a smart and dedicated man who knows what he wants and goes for it. Had he been half-hearted in his approach to the venture, he would not have invested so wisely. On page 120, we are told that Lancie Clippinger is an intelligent man who understood the value of his own thinking and paying attention, and who ââ¬Å"understood clearly that the profit is in the difference between costs and earnings, and who proceeded directly to minimize his costsâ⬠. This spells out another very important lesson, that it is vital to understand what we are doing. This is only possible if we have passion for what we do, which will allow us to act in an intelligent manner like

Finance discussions1 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Finance discussions1 - Essay Example Ford, on the other hand is healthy enough to withstand short term payments without liquidating its inventories. General Motors again has a problem with a large amount of inventory and slow processes that take almost double the time to convert inventory into sales. Low inventory figures for Ford facilitate a high inventory turnover. Ford has the worst accounts receivable with only 0.62 days of sales outstanding, well below General Motors 23 days. This means that receivables are not being collected on time. Ford, with relatively lower sales and higher fixed assets, also utilizes its assets efficiently. Both companies seem to be generating a sufficient volume of business given their total assets. Ford has a slightly higher profit margin on sales than General Motorsââ¬â¢ even though both have approximately the same net income. This is attributed to higher sales of General Motors. In terms of the overall return on the investment earned by both companies, they are neck to neck with General Motors out performing Ford due to large asset holdings of the latter. Fordââ¬â¢s negative equity results from the large amount of retained earning deficit and accumulated comprehensive loss over the years. This has resulted in a negative return of 974% to common stockholders. The recent years of more than 100% debt ratio, have eaten into the equity of the company. General Motors is doing well in this regard with a decent return to its common stockholders of 18%. Ford is highly leveraged with almost 100% debt. It has however, brought this figure down from previous years. Compared to that, General Motors even though highly leveraged itself, seems to be in a safer position with 78% debt. This high amount of debt is affecting Fordââ¬â¢s performance as it lowers its ability to cover its fixed financial charges and bogs down its income, adversely affecting the equity. Overall, Ford has taken more debt than it can
Two Visions in The Heart of Darkness by Edward Said Essay
Two Visions in The Heart of Darkness by Edward Said - Essay Example Therefore, in a reflective analysis of the impact of colonialism and imperialism on the colonized nations as well as the visions provided in the novel Heart of Darkness, it becomes lucid that the author makes an important point when he refers to a network of interdependent histories. As Edward Said maintains in his article ââ¬Å"Two Visions in The Heart of Darknessâ⬠, the network of interdependent histories provide the best illustration of why the former colonies of the European countries undergo a fundamental crisis in the cotemporary. The situation in these countries is not the result of self-inflicted wounds or the total responsibility of the colonizers. According to the author, ââ¬Å"blaming the Europeans sweepingly for the misfortunes of the present is not much of an alternative. What we need to do is to look at these matters as a network of interdependent histories that it would be inaccurate and senseless to repress, useful and interesting to understand.â⬠(Said, 4 22) A reflective analysis of the famous novel by Conrad, which reflects the imperialist settings of Africa, confirms that there is a network of interdependent histories which resulted in the contemporary situation of the post colonial world. The role of patriotism, chauvinism, ethnic, religious, religious, and racial hatreds in worsening the current situation makes the argument clear. In short, the author makes an essential point when he suggests that a network of interdependent histories have contributed to the contemporary.

A Publicly Owned Large Company Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
A Publicly Owned Large Company - Research Paper Example This case briefly analyzes the real world problems which a company might face while having a meeting in order to select its supplier. If the problems are not resolved at the first stage i.e. while having meetings, then there are considerable chances of facing immense amount of problems later on. This case provides insights about the potential problems which may arise at the stage of having first meeting with the potential supplier. Central Problemà Jill Turner, representative of Success Inc. is having a meeting with Supplier A Inc. in order to find out if they are competent enough to be selected as a supplier for Success Inc. During the meeting, Jill encountered various issues. These issues included the strange quietness of the representatives of Supplier A Inc., not checking the business cards of the representatives which can be considered as Jillââ¬â¢s own mistake, not being sure where the headquarter of the company is located and not knowing who is the right person to talk w ith. In the subsequent paragraphs, discussion has been provided about how to cope up with such problems, why these problems arise and what were the reasons behind such problems. Statement of Objectivesà There are certain areas which need to be analyzed and evaluated before commencing a meeting. If that is not done, than it might lead to wrong decision making and ultimately will end up in against of the company. Wrong decision will definitely cause loss of money and time to the company therefore it is required to be very careful before taking such big decision. This case analyzes what mistakes can occur during meeting while selecting a supplier. Areas of Consideration (SWOT)à Strengths The strength of Success Inc is that it has smart representative namely Jill Turner, who sincerely looks for all the pros and cons before choosing any supplier. Success Inc is very cautious while selecting a supplier which is the strength of this company. Success Inc.ââ¬â¢s representatives hold meetings with each of the potential supplier before selecting the right one. They analyze and evaluate each and every aspect so as to avoid any serious problems in future. Weakness The weakness which Success Inc. possesses is that its representatives at times make such mistakes which can cause loss of time and money to the company. Representatives of Success Inc need to be more careful and must not be so judgemental. Threats By not analyzing own mistakes and ignoring those mistakes, there are chances for the supplier to get the deal by showing misleading facts and figures. Success Inc. needs to analyze each and every single point before coming to the final decision otherwise the suppliers might take the advantage and therefore the threat of bargaining power of supplier can increase substantially. Opportunities After analyzing the case, it seems that the opportunity that Success Inc. has is that they usually do not have time pressure. By not being bounded to the time frame, they can take as much time as they want and can study comprehensively about each supplier. The financial position, previous performance, lead time, delivery and quality are some areas which need to be considered thoroughly before taking any final decision. Time Context Success Inc. doesnââ¬â¢t have any time pressure which means that they are not compelled to launch a particular product in particular time frame which gives Success Inc. an edge in studying more carefully about the potential suppliers. Alternative Courses of Actionà Selecting an appropriate supplier is not an easy task for large companies. There are many areas to consider before selecting a supplier. Most often, companies mislead the information so accurately in order to get the deal that it becomes difficult in considering if the facts

Session Hijacking Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Session Hijacking - Essay Example There are two types of attacks in session hijacking namely; the active and passive attack. In active attack, the hacker identifies a session that is active and takes over by force by forcing one member to be inactive (offline). In passive attack, there is hijacking of a session by a hacker who remains inactive and observes information being transmitted from and to the computers. The attack strategy known as the denial of service is used as a common component in these attacks to either crash it or jamming its network connection. In some instances a hybrid method of attack exists which the hacker may either watch an active session for sometime before taking over or the attacker may decide to inactively watch a session for sometime before becoming active and hijacking it (Hope & Walther, 2008). Another form of the hybrid method is where one watches a session and introduces data into the session that is active periodically with no intentions of hijacking the session In perpetrating a session hijack, four methods are used. These are session fixation, session side jacking, and cross-side scripting. In session fixation, the attacker sets the id of the userââ¬â¢s session to another one, which is known to him. For instance, he can send an email to the user containing a link that has an id of a particular session and wait for the user to log in.
